Welcome to Dance of Saucepans, my humble contribution to the food blogging world, a place to share my Spanish Food legacy and my culinary adventures.
My name is Cristina and I came from Spain, but I have been happily living in Auckland (New Zealand) since 2008, love brought me here… and here I am. I miss Spain (sometimes…) in Spain food is everything, is celebration and joy and a simple everyday pleasure. I come from a family of marvellous cooks, my Lala was without a doubt the best cook I have ever known, but my mum comes pretty close, I have always loved the kitchen and spent a lot of time gathering my Lala’s recipes when I realized otherwise they would have got lost, she had everything in her head, and was quite a challenge to get any sort of comprehensive measurement other than “pinches”, “sprinkles” or “lugs”; not a day goes by that I don’t remember her one way or another.
I love all things food, coming from Spain I can be pretty passionate about it, people say that I immediately light up the moment I start talking about food… food is my one true love, so yes, guilty, I probably glow a little too much talking about what I am going to cook for dinner, that’s me.
I like exciting, made from scratch meals, with as many fresh produce as I can cram in them. I am on a quest to buy as less processed products as possible, but in a relaxed way, the kitchen is my oasis, no room for struggles there. I love cooking with a Spanish flare, Tapas (little morsels of tasty something) are probably my all-time favourite thing, but I like rather too much flirting with other world cuisines and the sound of an ingredient I have never heard before makes my heart flutter.
I started this blog because I feel a little alone on this cooking quest of mine; I needed to share and I realized I could no longer be happy without expressing the love I have for food. My carefully crafted meals more often than not get demolished within seconds, and a blog gives me some sense of continuity. I can’t wait to start this new adventure!!
Thanks for dropping by, hope you’ll stay for dinner.
